BEaMS Challenge Summary

The BEaMS Challenge Business Case Competition, organized by the Business, Entrepreneurship and Management Society (BEaMS), is intended to be the first business case competition ever organized at Jacobs University Bremen. The lack of many dedicated business case competitions that target an international student body creates a great opportunity for the organization of such an event.

The competition will be open to students from Jacobs University Bremen, and Universität Bremen. The aim is to present the participants with a current business challenge of "Das Viertel" Organization, and thus encourage them to think of solutions to real-world challenges. Apart from stimulating the students to further develop their business knowledge, the participation to the business case competition may eventually encourage them to follow a business-related career.

The students should register online for the competition and form teams of 2 to 4 people. After the presentation of the "Das Viertel" Organization, the actual Business Case Competition would include two stages. In the first stage, after attending the "Das Viertel" Organization Presentation, the teams are required to submit a short business report following specific requirements. The reports will be reviewed by the jury and short-listed. The finalists will have to further develop their business reports from stage I, and submit their final versions. In addition to this, for the final stage of the competition, the finalists are expected to make a presentation reflecting their final ideas and solutions to the selected issue and present it in front of the jury and the audience. Financial prizes for the top three teams will be awarded. All the participants will receive feedback on their reports and presentations from specialized experts and company representatives. Moreover, presentations held by guest speakers would take place, as part of the event. Buffet receptions would be organized in both stages, allowing the participant students to interact with company representatives and business specialists, as well as to establish social networking connections between each other.
